Cautious Hero: Hero Overpowered But Overly Cautious (Kono Yūsha ga Ore Tsuē Kuse ni Shinchō Sugiru) It is a 2019 television anime series based on the light novel of the same name written by Light Tuchihi. It was adapted by studio White Fox and directed by Masayuki Sakoi. Kadokawa Pictures aired the series and it first aired in Japan in October 2019 as part of the Autumn season.
Background:
“Goddess Ristarte was tasked with summoning a hero to save her world, but her chosen one, Seiya Ryuuguuin, is overly cautious and more obsessed with training than starting her adventure. But whenever she fights monsters, you know she’ll be ready.”

A lot of isekais happened at this point and I like most of them for different reasons. It is said that Cautious Hero basically he is like the others in terms of humor and concept, but the idea of having an overly cautious and overly strong isekai main character with a tsundere-type goddess friend is pretty fun. It was admitted that this show would not attract viewers of all kinds, so it’s a matter of whether or not to like this kind of trope.
Even though I know people who don’t like the show, I enjoyed watching it in person. Cautious Hero and the anime adaptation received light novels after completing 12 episodes he provided. The show gets a little serious at some point, but the show is all a comedy after all.
Funimation acquired the English rights to the series and released it in a standard edition as well as a special limited edition box set. Manga Entertainment brought the series with the same content. Many of the games in the Manga’s Q4 series have been toned down and miraculously pushed back Cautious Hero It was only a week late due to my copy arriving early, so it was technically only delayed a few days after the original release window.
Limited Edition Content:
Funimation is quite inconsistent in its limited number of offerings. While the overall core aspect is intact (a hard box with an Amaray case), the rest depends on the amount of bonus features and items included. In case of Cautious HeroWe have an interesting approach.
One of the most unique content exclusive to this box set is the inclusion of Drama CDs. Now Funimation has done this before with the Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory, which has a terrifying execution, still continues in this version as well, but we have a dubbed version as well as the Japanese version.
Unlike the FMP IV, which has its own Amaray case, Drama CDs appear with the main series in a single Amaray case. In the US, Funimation doesn’t usually deal with slipcovers, but they’ve started adding them more often – and the Manga would include either way. I must remember that it is not a unique piece of art Cautious Hero.
It also includes an 80-page booklet covering artworks, a manga section that has never been officially translated into English before, and an English translation of the Drama CD. A lenticular picture card and 3 filmstrip bookmarks are also included, but I have two duplicated storyboards lollies in my package.
Physical Content:
- Hard Box with Amaray packaging and clean artwork
- Amaray, specification and BBFC description on the case and information page
- English and Japanese audio drama CDs (1 disc each)
- 80-page Booklet with manga, Drama CD script, storyboard and character profiles
- Lenticular Art Card
- 3 Filmstrip Bookmarks
On-Disc Contents:

Cautious Hero Covers chapters 1 to 12 on two Blu-ray discs and two DVD discs. The coding and writing process was done by Funimation, but Manga originally added their logo. Speaking of disks, the number of partitions is evenly divided, hence 1-6. Partitions are available for both formats on the first disc and 7-12 on the second disc.
Audio options available for the series include Japanese with English subtitles and the Funimation English dub. White subtitles are locked during Blu-ray playback and regions are locked to B for Blu-ray and 2 for DVD.
The show had an incomplete opening sequence at the time of airing, and that was changed halfway through its broadcast, and the good news is it’s used for previous episodes in the Blu-ray version of the full version, so it’s handy and consistent.
